I buy two sided, self healing Olfa 24 x 36" mats, unwrapped. They never stink.

The mat in the attic still stinks. I made a mistake it's a Craftsy brand not Olfa. I don't know who manufacturers the mats for them. It went in the outside trash bin.

I think I will take it back as it really stinks, and my sewing room smells so bad just like a skunk, I had friends over and I had closed the door on my sewing room but as soon as they came in the house, they asked if we were having trouble with skunks..that settled it... Back it goes..

Thanks eveyone for your advice, I totally agree if I buy something for 60.00 I want to use it now and not wait for the smell to go away..I'll look at the one from Amazon ..Thanks again

I would return it if possible and purchase a different brand

Yes, they do take returns because of smell. I’ve returned two. I’m surprised it’s an Omnigrid that smells so bad. It’s usually the Olfa mats that have fumes. For a while, Omnigrid was touting their mats because they didn’t have a noxious odor. The smell doesn’t go away.

You can return it with or without the receipt. Without the receipt they will only give you 50% because they run the 50% coupon so often. It can be the substance they treated it with for packaging and shipping. If you want to keep it, try washing it with a vinegar water solution or sprinkle with baking soda and let it sit.
