Not all families keep photos, but keep looking. I was commissioned to make an anniversary quilt using symbols of things important to the couple. If you can't find the pix, that might help. There are a number of ways of turning photos into quilts. I have been very happy using Bubblejet.

Ask your dad if you can make copies of some of his photos. Ideally, take them to a scanner. But to copy them where he is, use a tripod and good light. Either a digital or film camera will work. If you use a film camera, ask for copies on a CD when you have them developed.
Or, if you're asking where to see quilts with photos on them, just google quilts with photos. there are family tree quilts, memory quilts,

I have made several photo quilts and have been happiest with the results from Printed Treasures.
The first one was made for my brother's 60th birthday using photos from his, our dad's and brother's midget racing days. The second was for my BFF's 70th birthday.
