Default Need help with a quilt pattern

I am the official quilter for our family reunion quilts, done every other year. I had this "brilliant" idea of making a black and white quilt. Family members have sent black/white fabrics, white/black fabrics - now the problem. I have seen so many beautiful quilts here on the Quilting Board, quilt magazines, etc.. I'm not quite sure which quilt block to use. I've thought of a log cabin with half black, half white logs, D9P, stars, so many choices, but I could use your help in deciding what to do. Each family has a color (we wear colored shirts to ID who belongs to whom), and my brother Ed's family color of black is long overdue. Help me out here please. Thank you so much.

Here is a D9P I made, adding turquoise accents to the Black & White.

I like the log cabin idea - one side black, the other white. The log cabin pattern represents home and family to me. If you used a red square in the center, it would be striking.... just a thought...

Black & white would have to be one of my favourites. I did one last year for my son and DIL and used red with it.

I had intended to do the Craftsy free block of the month sampler in b/w. I still think it's a good idea.

A Carpenter's Star would be stunning in black and white with a accent color. Red,teal, salmon, any strong color would make a great quilt.
