Need help sewing Minkee
#12
I used fleece on the back of a quilt (and also batting). I quilted the layers with free motion but I was able to stitch only from top to bottom (the other ways the thread kept breaking). The quilt did not distort at all. It was not my best experiment but I loved how soft and warm the quilt was.

When you use the spray adhesive, are you actually spraying the right side of the minky? Does it separate easily without distorting the fabric?
Shanon Fabrics as a great selection of minky but I didn't see any tips for sewing it. A nice selection of free patterns too.

I've not made any large quilts with Minkee, nor done any on my Longarm. I have made several 40" X 55" quilts using blocks of Minkee fleece.
Two things I've learned with Minkee:
1) You will be sneezing fluff out of your nose for several days after cutting several blocks of Minkee.
2) When piecing together blocks of Minkee, put safety pins about an inch or two in from the two stretchy sides. That way when you are piecing the blocks together, you can make sure that you never stitch 2 stretchy sides together.
I've made about 5 quilts like this and they've all turned out pretty cute. Each of them were quilted on my DSM using the SITD method. It's really a great way to show off a large cotton fabric on one side and several coordinating blocks of Minkee on the other side.

The book is called Minky Quilt Success, Quilting Outside the Box with Billie Veerkamp. If you are interested in book and you can't find it, a friend of mine is friends with her and I can get her number so you could order it.
