Default Need help with some quilt decisions

I am making this quilt for my doc's receptionist who is due on July 4th. I asked her what she would like and she asked for Sun, Moon, Stars in dark colors. Well, I went to my stash and found stuff from a previous project from over 10 years ago. I added the aqua to make the star blocks stand out. Then I added the sashing to calm down the aqua, since she wanted dark. Now my dilemma is what to do for a border. I have NONE of the star point fabric left, and NONE of the Sun, moon, stars fabric. The backing will be wizards, because that is what I have lots of (left from another project). My options are the aqua, the dark stars, or wizards, and another piece I found that might do.

Maybe a narrow (1/2 inch or less) yellow or gray? narrow border and then a wider border of the dark blue?

It's very nice - I like your color choices - the aqua is perfect with that.

I don't care for the light wizard fabric for the outside border. Just my opinion on that.

You could just bind it at the size it is - it looks "complete" to me right now - if that would be "big enough"

I like both these fabics. I think if it were me, I would use a 2nd border of the wizards, cut larger than the blue you have already. Then I would put a 3rd border of the dark blue in your third picture. I really like the dark blue.

Is there metallic in those fabrics? I'm trying to decide if I recognize the aqua fabric. It looks a lot like a Stargazers fabric by Robert Kaufman (which is still in print; we carry it).

What about pulling in a narrow stripe of the golden yellow color? And then putting something darker around it?

If you are working with metallics, Blank Quilting has a marvelous golden yellow metallic blender that might work well:

I also think a yellow/gold border would make the quilt "pop." I would also add the wizard fabric as the last border. Love it, and love all your fabric choices!

Thanks everyone. Problem is, I haven't been able to find any gold/yellow that looks right with it. And yes. the aqua is Kaufmans' with a small metallic star in it. They also have it in dark blue. I still have some of the aqua, enough for a border or binding. The other stuff I have had for years, they also have metallic gold in them. The wizards has metallic silver. I am trying to do this without purchasing anything else. I thought of a 1/2" of the aqua, then the dark blue or wizards. I am not sure I like the wizards for the front, though.

I'll check out the gold blender.
