I was also thinking of a casserole carrier, ove dress or perhaps monagramed towels for the bath.My parents once rec.'d mon towels for a house warming, and instead of their names or initals, it was Boss and Slave, which I thought even as a youngster was really cute. Maybe a monagramed table runner, that would quick and easy.
I like someone's idea of the 12 months thing, perhaps 12 month table toppers, that would be neat.
Keep us posted as to what you decide.

You have probably seen this post, but I think this would be a great hostess gift and fun to make.

They don't carry Martha White here in Oregon either. Bummer. I have a recipe using Martha White's Self-rising cornmeal mix, so to utilize it, I'll need to order online some of that online, but will also order the flour too.
thats funny! I can't seem to live w/o King Arthur flour, sold in the northeast. I can get all the Martha White I want in the south. If you read the side of flour packages I think most of them indicate what wheat they are. I think MW is very soft because its spring wheat derived; great for quick biscuits. sharet
