Default Need ideas for Alaskan theme quilt

My hubby just got back from a business trip in Anchorage. Knowing that there are many quilt shops there, I suggested that he either go to the Quilted Raven where we shopped 3 years ago while on a cruise or just about any other Quilt shop to buy some more Alaskan theme fabric for me. I told him to just pick out 4 or 5 different fabrics and buy 1.5 yards of each. He did good! He had the lady at the store help him pick out 5 different fabrics.

The first one I would like to use has 12 pictures of wildlife that will each be an 11" square. There is also a strip of animals that is about 6" tall by the length of the fabric which should be about 54".

Here is a link to what he brought me:

This link only shows 6 of the blocks, but I have 12.

He also bought some beautiful blue/orange swirly print that will go great with this panel as an outer border.

I would like it to be a lap quilt. Anyone have any awesome ideas for a quilt design to use them?

    Thanks!

Here's one of the other fabrics my hubby bought for me that I want to use as my outer border on the quilt.

I can't help you, but want to say how much I love all the fabrics!

Do you have enough panel squares to do one of Lisa Moore's Quilts with A Twist patterns? She lives in AK and designs quilts that feature AK fabrics. http://quiltswithatwist.com/store/re...hp?category=15

Gorgeous fabric!! I was stationed in Alaska while in the US Air Force and had many fond memories of Alaska. Your post brings a smile to my face!! I can't wait to see your finished project.

I'm working on an 'up north' quilt right now and plan to use the pictured fabrics as accent blocks. I've seen lots of quilts that focus bears and fish, etc. You shouldn't have too much difficulty finding one. I googled quilt pictures up north designs and found a few cute ones.

All this talk about Alaska makes me miss my son who is stationed there. McKenna Ryan is coming out with a new quilt soon, and the blocks sure look like it could be in Alaska somewhere. I will be following these threads, as I am sure I will be making an Alaska themed quilt in the future.
