Default need ideas for half square triangles...

I went on a half square triangle binge and made about 200 of them and they are 1.5 in blocks in just two fabrics - a light and a dark. I'd love to hear any ideas for what to make with these! Thanks much!

Mix them with squares for a Split 9 Patch from the free pattern tab at Bonnie Hunter's www.quiltville.blogspot.ca

I just won 279 HST at one of my guilds. They're 2 1/2" ones. This is what I'm doing with them - I'm just making it up as I go along! It will most likely be assymmetrical because I won them at the Modern Guild

Lori, your design is gorgeous! Do you have enough to keep going or are you starting to make your own to add to the design?

Love what you are doing Lori. I, too, have some HSTs to work with. They are 2 inch ones. I have about 300 of them, just from the quilt I'm making now. Have a bunch of others from different quilt tops. You know, those little corners you cut off..well, I can't stand to throw them away so I just make these little HSTs and tuck them away for later use. Yes, I have a sickness!

The Ocean Waves pattern uses lots of HST, and would good in scrappy too.

One method of making the Windblown block uses all half square triangles with two colors, this is the block I am working on. See block and instructions at link below.

    http://www.quiltaholics.com/bom/windsq.htm

The pattern I am using is called Windblown Shadows, from the book "The Thimbleberries Book of Quilts" by Lynette Jensen from 1998, but I am not doing the shadow effect of using a dark alternating block but rather constructing as shown in link.

Another pattern is called Spinning Flowers from Fons and Porter's Love of Quilting magazine (Nov./Dec. 2014).

Hope you like one of these patterns.

this is the windblown block from link above.

There are so many beautiful star blocks made from HSTs. Also, chevron quilts are all HSTs.
