I'm making this quilt for my sister and the navy border bugged me and I absolutely hate seam ripping so I fussy cut flowers and fused them to the top. The next set of border are going to be a 1 1/2 in of burgundy muddled with a med and navy muddled twisted ribbon followed by another 1 1/2 burgundy strip and then the material that I used to make the heart with will be the final border, most likely scalloped, binded in the burgundy.

Problem 1: The border looks like something is missing. Should I put some vines, leaves etc., or will that become too busy or should I just bite the bullet and rip out the blue border?

Problem 2: Because of the flowers being different colors I was going to use invisible thread to applique down. My sister is a different bird. I know that when she washes this that she'll most likely iron it. Invisible thread won't work then. Any suggestions. I really don't want to take away from the center. Would using a variageted work?

This is one of my UFO's and I want it done!!!! I'm going to try to load a picture and hopefully it'll work.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Adding a bias vine would really tie those flowers all in together :D:D:D I think using a varigated thread would work well on the appliques. It is a beautiful quilt :D:D:D

I'm good without the vining but it certainly wouldn't hurt to add it. And I like the idea of the variegated thread.

That is a beautiful quilt. I think I would like the bias vine joining the flowers. I like using variegated thread so go for it. I bet she will love it.

Wow! Your quilt is absolutely gorgeous! I agree with adding the variegated thread vines to join your flowers. Please keep us posted with your progress on this quilt. I am really looking forward to seeing the borders added too!
