The option which picks out colours from the butterfly (eg pink on yellow)has my vote - fits in with the rest of the bright colours.

How about using thread the color of the "body" of the butterfly---with shiny thread of course.

i love bright colors, but i think with this many bright colors it needs some one color to pull it all together. color of your choice, but dark enough to be seen. maybe the color of the darkest border.

that said, it is beautiful, adorable, wonderful, charming and fun! what more could a little girl want?

Use a bright yellow for all of them. That would make them stand out :D

    Nice pretty butterflies

Tough question. I like the thread you have pictured with each block. Can't wait to see what you do.

With all these options it will be tough to decide. Most of the time I try to match the background color of the applique. I did a butterfly quilt with only 2 fabrics for the wings and a different color for the body. I matched the body color. Here's a picture to give you a visual.

I'm sure whatever you do will be wonderful!

I like mrsjdt's idea about using thread the color of the body. It would make the wings pop with a contrasting color, but still tie in with each block.

I like Terri's idea, and I like the idea of variegated too. Satin stitching on butterflies is puuurrrty!
What a great idea!!! Thanks for sharing it! :)

I second the motion on this idea. Butterflies are near and dear to my heart. These are beautiful. Great work.
