    I think the detail on the flowers and stem and the echo around the appliqued, as suggested, would work very well. What a great quilt, love it!

    I saw a beautiful applique quilt that had a tight background quilting close to the applique, which then "faded" into a more open background of swirlsas you got further away from the applique--it really highlighted the applique.
