Share your best picks for Guild Speakers and Workshops for the 2011 calendar year. Who would you love to see at your guild?

Find a prolific quilter in your area and ask for a trunk show. They are always delightful and usually not very expensive. National quilters are grand but cost a small fortune so our guild tries to use local or area people as much as possible.

I heard Barbara Brackman speak once. Absolutely the best speaker I have heard in 15 years. The suggestion is a good one. Our guild also has one of the shop owners speak just after the Houston Market about anything new or trends she noticed. That is fun also.

My guild has various speakers, not just quilters. We had a glass blower, artist, basket weaver, screen printer, and even a local chef. We all loved the chef. He gave us great time saving ideas and recipes so we had more time to quilt. After exhausting all the local quilt talent we have to think outside the box when it comes to interesting programs.

We had Pat Speth present a program and a trunk show at our meeting and then she stayed 2 more days and did full-day workshops. She was WONDERFUL!
