I hate to admit it but I don't know how or what a D9P is. I've done 9patch squares before in my first quilt. I found some fabric today with cute lambs for all seasons in it. Haven't decided yet on how to use them though.

A disappearing 9 patch is pretty simple, you make a traditional nine patch block, then make one cut diagonally through then center of the nine patch. Next you make another cut horizontally through the center of the nine patch. Then you take the four sections flip the blocks around until they are pleasing to the eye and sew the block back together. Finally, square off your block. Voila! It has become a disappearing nine patch...

Thank you Oneygirl for the explaination. I'll have to try it soon. And I'll pay close attention to pictures posted of D9Ps. Heaven knows I have enough fabric to try out something new.

You can make it and it is fun and easy! Once you make one quilt, you can make another and vary it by adding 1 1/2" sashing in between the squares before you reconstruct them.
There are so many variations to what you can create after cutting your nine patch block in 4 sections!

the disapearing 9 patch really is easy once you get the hang f squaring up. Fortunately I had an instructor that was able to explain the easiest way to square the block and after that, it was a breeze. Actuaaly I have enough blocks completed that I will complete this particular quilt in the next two weeks after my two "panel" baby quilts are done. For the little girls crib quily, actually a little bigger, now that it's very close to be ready to be quilted, I found a 1/2 muted pink rickrack and I will use that for the inside of the very last border. I cheated and used three borders. So I will be using this item to cover the seam been the second and third border. It looks great, for me any way... there are some really swet ways to dress out a pretty or cute panel.
