OH they are gorgeous!!!well, you could do more black for one. are you going to do them in rows as they are or cut each one apart? If apart, you could add different colors of sashings around them for more color.

Those are beautiful. I would use black for sashing.

Oh, I love butterflies. Those are absolutely beautiful. Where did you get them? I would do black sashing as I think black will really make the colors pop out.

I love them!!! Black would be the obvious choice for sashing. Alternately, you could expand on them. I just got some parrot fabric which I am using as the centers for saw tooth stars. I've done the same with friendship stars.

If giving them to ME is not an option, then I vote for black sashing too. Plenty of color already there, don't need to detract from them.

My first choice would be black, a second choice would be a leaf print w/ dark green leaves and black background. Not a "hard" print w/ definite lines (like the butterflies sharp focus) more of a blurred focus like the background in the butterfly fabric.

Have you thought about setting them "on point" and separating them with an Attic Windows-type lattice? By setting them on point and fiddling around with the angles at which they're flying, I think they'll look more life-life and your quilt will have more energy.

I'm now going to try to post a photo or two of a quilt I made using the type of lattice I recommend: UH OH. THOUGHT I KNEW HOW TO DO IT. WRONG! WILL NOW LOOK FOR INSTRUCTIONS AND WILL TRY AGAIN.

I might try framing them with some color, and then black. Going to be so pretty.

I read the directions and still can't upload my photographs. They're probably in the wrong format.

Instead, here's a link to the pattern so you can see how the lattice works. http://www.connectingthreads.com/pat...__D10091D.html

FWIW, I think the lattice idea will be considerably more effective with your butterflies that it is with either their flowers or mine.
