Need suggestions on my 'ugly' quilt... please.

I disagree, that quilt is not ugly at all, it's just not to your taste. I would finish it as it is, quilt it, bind it and donate it to raise money for your aunt and uncle. It's a good thing you are doing. When I was a girl about 10 years old, we lost our home to a fire and the church people donated quite a bit of stuff to us to help us out. Thanks for helping your aunt and uncle.

I love the quilt - mostly, but the dark green seems to overpower it. Personally, I would make the green narrower, just for that pop of color placed inside the floral, and keep the blue/yellow floral as the outside border. It's so nice that you want to finish it and put it up for 'auction'.....best of luck.

I like the center and the flowered border. Actually I did not notice the outer green border. What size do you want the quilt to be? I would remove the green border and if needed for size add a 1" dark blue inner border and then another outer floral borderthe same as you already have. I would try to keep the removal of borders to a minimum since all that ripping will stretch to border fabric adding to a wavy edge. also bind in blue. Show us the finished quilt. Good job!!!!!

That is NOT an ugly quilt! I think it is very pretty. I, too, did not notice the green outside border at first. It kind of blends with the scenery. So if you think you must do something, remove that. Otherwise I think it is beautiful! Good luck with the benefit.

I, too, didn't notice the dark green border. That being said, I would use the dark blue as the first inner border. However I would make it super skinny. Even skinnier than the light blue border. Than use the other borders in the order in which they are now presented. Since the dark green color is definitely used in the "windmills", I would bind the quilt with the dark green.

I like the center, It is very pretty. I agree, remove the dark green border, I you really need another border, use blue or yellow.
This is the quilt-top I made a few years ago and have decided to quilt it for an upcoming benefit for my aunt and uncle who lost their home to a fire.
This is the "Wind Blown Petals" pattern. I have never been at all happy with it. I classify it as the ugliest quilt I have ever made. Actually... I like the center part.....I'm thinking I need to change the borders as the entire quilt is so busy. Is that the problem?
I truly appreciate your thoughts and suggestions to change this 'ugly duckling' to a striking beauty.
