Need suggestions for a quilt for a 12 year girl

One of my biggest hits was a soft edged Sunbonnet Sue. (Girls would rather the raw edge apparently, it's cooler) BUT, and most importantly I put things in her hand like an iPod,a sheet of music, a teddy bear, had her wearing her school colors, etc. The updated items are done basically with muslin and a superfine permanent marker, fussy cuts from other fabrics etc. Quick & easy and now treasured

I teach this age group every year and would say: Pick an easy pattern (or pick several and then let her choose her favorite) and go with girly brights----orange, pink, turquoise, lime, lemon, etc. and I don't think you can go wrong! You might want to check and see if she'd like a school colors quilt---then do something easy and fun with those colors.

Have you considered taking her with you to a fabric store and having her show you her favorite colors. Then you could also let her show you a pattern that appeals to her. My granddaughter went with me and we did this together. She has a quilt in her colors and the pattern she chose.

I made a butterfly quilt with batik butterflys 12 inch blocks with a simple sashing. They were appliqued useing fusible web and stitched with a blanket stitch. The top was completed in a day. Used bright colors and each butterfly was a different print and color.
Here is a picture of it. It was fast and simple.

What about the 11 minute flower one of the ladies posted a couple of days ago. It's easy, and hip especially if it was done in fun fabrics. My daughter would have loved this quilt at 12 yrs.
