This was my first thought too as I looked at your quilt. Could you make the black border narrower? It seems so bold against the soft pastels of the other colors. If you keep the black on you might incorporate a few scattered narrow black strips and a few scattered pink print in with the more solid pink and greens to make the piano border. Bind it with the green.

I agree with this -- I think the green next to the pink and then a solid dark pink. The piano key would be pretty too -- shades of pink and white, but after the green border.

I like piano keys with all the colors except the black, then bind it with the black. If you want to dress up the binding, a hot pink flange would do. I think leaving the black stop strip and binding making more age appropriate for a teen. If you strip piece the piano keys, they don't take long. The fun part is deciding how to do the corners.

That's exactly what came to my mind. I like the black in there, because it picks up on the bits of black in the prints within the quilt, and ties it all together. I think she'll like what you made for her. Great job.
