I suggest you safety pin the layers together and then get it onto the ironing board. As you press the batting will compact/compress. This process will take a little time. Then you will be able to stitch by machine if you wish. Once the quilting is completed, either heavily wet or toss in the rinse cycle and then dry. The high loft will reappear. I do this with baby quilts where a little loft if needed. Suzanne

Let us know what you decide. Tied quilts really are quite charming. One of my sons loves them most of all :D

Well, I've started quilting on Mr. Batman-- I used the spray to baste it, made sure I got it on pretty evenly, and then took Suzanne's advice and Ironed the whole sandwich really well so it wasn't so lofty and springy. I am now actually quilting it with my dual-feed foot and it is going quite well. It has mainly big gentle curves that I am able to follow sort of free-motion style and I'm pretty happy with how it is going! Thanks for all your help !!!

That is what I would suggest. There isn't any easy way of quilting high loft batting since it is too thick for most DSM to handle. Sorry !!
