    Default needle out of alignmeent

I was sewing a heavy quilt and I think that is what caused my problem. The needle is out of alignment. When i go to sew on the left, the needle hits the plate instead of where it should go. Cannot get to a repair man now. what is the best way to bend (?) it back? thanks

Replace the needle! If it hit the plate, the point now has a ding on it anyway.

Is the needle bent or the whole shaft moved over? My Bernina has a button to push to move the needle position. I once pulled it one position over when quilting a heavy denim seam. I just switch my machine off/on and it fixed itself back to the center position. If your machine does not have the ability to move the needle, you will need to bring it in for service.

If it's the needle that's bent, you should replace it. Do you have the right throat plate on?
I had a machine that thought the needle was in the center position, but it was actually on the left. It was a computerized machine, and the board needed to be replaced. very expensive.

Don't even try to straighten a bent needle. Replace it with a new one!
