needle sizes

I have several sewing machine needles (never used) that came with some yard sale grab bags and don't know how to tell what size they are. Is there a way to figure this out?

The size should be etched at the top of the needle (the part that goes into the machine). You'll need a good light, strong magnifying glass and really good vision to see it.
