I have done very little applique, but had fun doing it. I would like to get better at it. I am doing some English paper piecing which does use the applique. I love the hand work.

I love the relaxation of hand work, esp. when I'm on car going somewhere (every where we go from here is 30 min. to 5 hrs--I live in the boonies. I even titled one of my quilts "On the way to Denver and back") I have done needle turn and now I doing a techniques of first starching the seam and ironing it to the template. I find that the fold is nice and sharp. I still have some trouble with the concave (the inside curve), but am thinking of doing just that part in needleturn and see how that works. I have no problem with the convex (outside curve).

How beautiful! It looks like you're almost done, too!

I don't think everybody is capable of needle turn applique. At least I am not. I tried it numerous times and was never happy with my results. So, I never did applique until I got my GO cutter and the GO embroidery designs. I love doing applique now, but I just don't have the talent to do needle turn.
I am sure it is not a dying skill. A whole lot of people do a fantastic job and it is beautiful.

Thank you Janet - yes, I am FINALLY almost done. (about time, it was started over 20 yrs ago, then circumstances prevented me from being able to put up my frame.) Now I have room, & just hope my 77 yr old hands let me get it finished.

    Have a blessed day
