I use Schmetz... You are going to love that machine! Just be sure to clean the lint out of the bobbin area and feed dogs, and it will stitch like a dream! I find my tension starts to go wonky if I let the lint build up down below
I discovered that recently, too. I've just started using mine a lot and I did have some problems and ended up taking the throat plate off, cleaning everything, removing a thread and put it all back together. After rethreading and putting the bobbin back in the case, all was good

I have a TL and use Organ needles. My machine requires needle with round shaft. I don't know of any Schmetz needles with a round shaft, only the shaft with the flat side.

I have had my Juki TL2010q for 3 years now and love it. I am using the Organ Titanium needles and they work great with this machine and last a long time too. Worth the money!
