Nervous about Quilt Show
I have to admit I am nervous about our upcoming quilt show. This is the first year I have entered anything to be in a show. We have some people in our guild we really know what they are doing. I am interested in your experiences with entering shows, especially entering a Challenge Quilt.

don't worry! I've entered both my local guild shows and a big, regional one too. Have to admit that I was nervous about the regional shows as judge--but wanted some feedback and it was gentle! The local guild shows are judged by viewers, not judges, and occasionally I'll win a ribbon--but I always view entering a show as a learning experience for me--it challenges me to work on binding, precision, etc. But remember that Every quilter that ever enters a show Always starts as a rookie! (be sure to post a picture if you win a ribbon!)

Just enter your quilts for the fun of entering. Not everyone likes the same things so some will like it and some will not. If it is judged, take any comments in stride, good or bad. We all can use some comments. Just have an experience.

It always surprises me which one wins so kudos for participating. There is usually some criteria for others prizes rather then just the first place winners. Even if you don't win, it is fun to see what everyone else did to meet the challenge.

I think it is fun just to see your own quilt hanging there. If you win, that's a bonus! It's so subjective, you really can't compare your quilt to others when it comes down to what won and what didn't, IMO. In a really BIG show, it comes down to tiny technical details, but in your average show it's much more subjective so just be happy seeing your quilt being enjoyed by all the spectators.
