do you need a walking foot? Use a zigzag stitch? Suggestions before I attept this please.

Yes, I would use a walking foot cuz it does like to stretch.

use a (stretch-knit) needle...they are ball points and a stretch stitch (small- zig-zag) i just finished quilting a queen quilt with a fleece back..it went so amazingly well! i wish all of the quilts i quilt for people went as well as this one with the fleece did, i am hooked now!

Also pre wash fleece it shrinks very badly..my grandfathers tie blanket came out lumpy after washing due to shrinking. He wont notice at 90.

First time I worked with fleece well the quilt was not square. A friend of mine told me to use masking tape to keep it square and zig zag the edges and rip off the tape. I really don't like to work with fabrics that stretch but this worked well for me.

Well, I didn't pre-wash - - no problem.
I didn't use a ball point needle - - no problem.
I didn't use a walking foot - - no problem.
Conclusion?
A walking foot is a good thing - - best thing is to know which is the stretchy side and which is the stable direction - - and, keep both in the same position.
The ball point needle is a good thing for knits, especially, but if you can't afford it, just sew a bit slower.
Fleece is usually polyesther/acrylic .. <wave>

Thank you for your replies. I sewed it and it went well. My sister was very pleased.
I did use the walking foot and went slow.
