You can use clip art as well...I've used it for some of my appliqué projects. :)

Try using label paper which is sticky on one side purchase at Staples .Draw pattern on the top then peel off the back stick to right side of fabric. Cut leaving a scant 1/4 around the pattern and then place on background and needle turn a little at a time I hope this helps Andie :D

I use the label paper instead of freezor paper as you don't need an iron and makes yours work more portable. I also use quilting needle or betweens no 10 I find they work better for me as I am a hand quilter

I also like the Piece O'Cake patterns and instructions. I took a workshop with them at Quilt Market one year - they had so many helpful ideas!

I hope I'm not to late to reply regarding this subject. I just recently began practicing applique. I have several applique books including the Piece of Cake stuff. I'm using methods from Ami Sims book called "Invisible Applique." From my first practice it really did produce good results. Her methods are a little different from others. Much success. Linda

I would like to embelish with my embroidery machine..just stumped where to start. I found a new(to me) heat bond stabilizer, it worked great with a blanket stitch.

Did you use the machine or hand applique technique? If you used the machine do you use invisible thread on the top guide?
