Default New Bernina 350 Special Edition

I am looking at the new Bernina 350 special edition and would like to know if any of you have sewn on one or have one. I understand it is lighter weight then their other machines so would be easier to take to classes. Does anyone have one or tried one out? If so how do you like it? Do you consider it a good machine?

I bought one this year as a backup machine. I love the way it sews! I figured it would be a good one to take to classes. I have an 830 and really don't want to have to haul it around unless the class is for that machine. The 350 has been used by my granddaughter and she likes it as well. She got spoiled by sewing on the 830 but really likes the 350 now. She considers it her machine. It is a solid machine. I like the fact that I can use most of the feet I already have. Have not regretted that purchase.

I'm a fan of Bernina, too. Haven't seen the 350 yet. I agree with Nammie to 7 about moving my larger computerized machines around too much. They just didn't seem to be made to travel a lot in a car!

Thank you Nammie to 7. These are the reasons I was looking at the 350. I have the 730 which isn't as big as you 830, but a lot to handle. Do you find the 350 enough lighter to make a big difference? I'm also working around a back issue, and have a weight limit of what I can carry. I want something that will make it so I can continue sewing when I am doing embroidery with the 730. I think I'm ready to buy this new machine.

I have the Bernina 350 PE and it's heavy. I can't imagine that the Special Edition would be any lighter. The only weight I found for the SE on-line was 8kg which is about 17.5 pounds - mine feels heavier than that. I got a lighter machine to take to classes (maybe about 12 lbs).

PS I do love my 350 though for home sewing/quilting - I wish I could carry it everywhere!
