I quit sharing creative endeavours even on this board. It is sad to say people get greedy. I have been asked to do several original patterns and didn't finish them yet. Please protected your propriety, protect yourself, don't share until you havered.e it cov

I wasn't saying that she didn't need to copyright it. She does. You said "Of course, now that you have posted the block for the entire world to see, your odds of success in defending a copyright for the block itself are somewhere between slim and none". I was just saying that this shows that she made this pattern prior to posting it on here. Why would her odds for defending a copyright be slim to none?
The idea that mailing something to yourself is copyright protection is false. It does not stand up in court. A posting time/date on a message board certainly won't either. The only way to legally defend against copyright infringement is to register the work with the copyright office before the infringement takes place. It does no good to register after someone steals your idea and/or registers it as their own.
