Default New Fabric Term for me

Yesterday I searching for specific fabric online and came across 'dessert rolls' in fabric cuttings. Is this new or am I so far behind in fabric terms---lol !

    Found it-
A Dessert Cut or Dessert Roll is a Moda pre-cut term for a roll of strips measuring 5" x 42" width of fabric. It's like a really fat Jelly Roll. The Dessert Rolls done with designer collections include just twenty pieces, or twenty different fabric.

I buy a lot of precuts but I haven't seen this before.

Hmmm, interesting. I wondered when they would come up with another cut.

I do not believe this is a new cut, I have 6 of them in my stash from at least 9 years ago. I am still pondering what to make with them……l

Lisa, you could cut them into 5 inch squares and make the top I just put in pictures with the 9 p and the yellow.

It's an older pre cut. I have a basket of them. They come in handy for a lot of quilt blocks. I don't see them in the shops anymore. I think I got all mine from Fat Quarter Shop Flash sales.

I looked and they have some six inch rolls and five inch ones. Funny in all my years I've not heard of these sizes in rolls.

Interesting . . . I don't remember seeing those either. But I don't really like precuts and rarely buy any except fat quarter bundles.

I was just looking at FQS and they have a precut called a "jolly bar" 5 x 10 rectangles. Jolly bars! lol

I found out they are called "Jolly Bars" after the owner, Kimberly Jolly. I love Fat Quarter Shop!!
For anyone who doesn't know- Jolly Bars are like a layer cake cut in half. 5 x 10

I buy mostly fat quarter bundles, rather than pre-cuts but I do have some. I just don't recall the dessert ones.

Definitely not a new thing, they have been around for years. I believe it was Quilt in a Day that I bought the last one from that I purchased last year. They are convenient especially when integrated into anything using charm squares. We used it in a disappearing nine patch.
