CONGRATS! What a find! The internet should have tons of info on how to clean up the cabinet and the machines. Good luck, the treadle will be absolutely beautiful!

[quote=stichinluvr]I just had to share what I got today. I went to an estate auction that advertised sewing machines. I got this treadle for $35. The other machine says 319W on the front and I got it for $5. I also bought a cabinet for it for $10. quote]

Oh My goodness!!! Did you make a couple of steals!!! Billy has tutorials on cleaning and getting them going. The 319W is made in Germany and is a wonderful machine. The parlor will look just dandy when you get through. Congratulations on your excellent buys!!!

Omg, your 319w is just like my mothers. same color too! i learned to sew on this when i was 4 years old. she even had a cabinet like that one. the machine is a great work horse. mother finally traded hers in on a viking in the mid 70s. i'm sure she appreciated the newer machine but i missed all the cams & attachments i could play with on the 319. enjoy your new to you toys!

Great Buys!! Lovely machines! Search vintage machines. There is a whole thread about them, with tutorials for cleaning. Billy, lostn51, gives terrific advice. His instructions are what I used to clean and refurbish my old new-to-me machine, and now it works like a dream and looks great too.

In the same section, Glenn gives tutorials for refinishing cabinets.

The cabinet is beautiful. And what wonderful prices!! Sorry cannot help you with cleaning the machines, but I would go to Lowes/Home Depot and talk to paint dept people about what to use to clean the wood cabinets if you have not done refinishing before. The machines I would take to a professional. Take care.

I agree with everyone...your new cabinet is beautiful! When I cleaned my "new" old machine, I ran a search for "how to clean old sewing machines", I found a lot of information, and was able to clean mine up really well. Hope this helps a little! Congratulations on your great finds!
