Nancy, thanks so much for the help--I know how to move the pieces for the templates. It is in the rotary cutting directions I have run across a question--for example, today I am working on A-5. When I printed the rotary cutting directions, they leave out the pattern and directions to cut what the pattern clearly shows is piece C in the diagram. I ran across the same problem with block A-1--it left our piece A directions in rotary cutting. I went ahead and paper pieced them--no problem, I like that method, but I would like to figure this out for telling others when I try to encourage them.

Nammie, you are correct--I looked and thought and thought and thought and AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! But, I love working with batiks, I have a huge stash of ten inch squares from a swap years ago, a friend owns a quilt shop and got me two full bolts of white for the background (I thought of the black with the bright batiks, but decided that THAT much black would kill these eyes when the pieces are so small), and I love THIRTIES, but, I am a BRIGHT person and thought I might lose interest if I kept on and on and on with pastels, so after all that THINKING, I just jumped in. Plus, my friend with the shop, Elaine's Attic, in Landrum, SC, is going to let us use the shop if we can get a monthly group together--and, if the batiks appeal, she sells those and my choice might help her out. Method to my madness--tee hee.

Moppy - that has been the way I'm leaning also -- thought the batiks would ravel less on the small pieces also. I'm sure if your friend will display your pieces the interest will grow and the batiks will fly off the wall!! Good luck with your quilt.

There are many blogs. One of the most helpful is "thatquilt".com. Enjoy the journey!

Susan, my brain doesn't get engaged until two cups of coffee, a cup of tea, and then some.!

Eventually I'm going to make a "Dear Jane", but not this year. I applaud your courage and tenacity in taking on such a large and complicated project! Don't worry, we're here at the Quilting Board to help you along - just ask. It's what we do here. And if you get discouraged, we can help with that as well.
