    I would only miter the corners of the final border IF all the borders had been done with a miter. If you think you wouldn't like the look of the stripes all the way to the edge on the side borders you could add a square of the red or the blue patterned border in the corners & that would bring the colour through that border.

    since the center picture is directional, and none of the other borders are mitered (and don't need to be), I'd make sure the stripes all go the same way and not miter...for example - make striped go up and down the way you show in the picture....cut the two side strips so the stripes continue up and down.

    That is the way my friend has advised me to do.
