    I've made quilts with prewashed and quilts with never washed fabrics, and for both types I've never prewashed my batting.

    I prewashed some cotton batting. It became a very holey piece which I am using double in small items not for the quilt it was purchased. Oh it was washed because I spilt coffee on it.
