I got a new quilt frame from my sister. It is the type that you can roll. Do you have to baste the outside of the quilt? I don't know how to describe it. Do you have to pin strips of fabric to pull the center of the quilt out?

Can you post a picture? I have a floor frame, and might be able to help if I could see it.

If it has three poles or more it's a no basting frame. If it has two poles you have to baste your quilt before putting it on the frame. For most frames you have to pin or baste sew the edges to each roller and then roll it up as tight as you like to hand quilt. Google the name of the frame and usually there are instructions for that frame online or someone on forums will have one like it.
