Default A New Quilt Project * Help me Choose

There is another new project waiting for me in the quilt line. Hopefully, there is enough time to complete it by Thanksgiving.

Help me choose the fabric for the upright sashing strips please. Do you mind? There is enough fabric to use the pink and green floral for sashing and the small print butterfly as the outside border or I can use the small butterfly print as the sashing and the pink and green floral as the outside borders.

Here is the layer cake and other fabrics I've put together. The other fabrics are white dimple dots and the green is artisan shimmer. Other patterns used a bright green one but I like the softer green fabric for this project.

Here is the pink and green floral fabric as upright sashing strips for Option 1. Fabrics are just laid out on the board and not to the size of pattern.

This is the small print butterfly that I thought was too busy. But it might just work as the upright sashing strips for Option 2.

This is the pattern. It calls for 9 1/2 blocks so I will trim down the layer cake blocks rather than calculate a new pattern. The two choices relate to the upright sashing strip between the blocks.

    Thanks for your thoughts!

I personally like the butterflies. But then I am partial to butterflies and want to see as much of them in a quilt as I can. This placement of the butterflies sets off the blocks well.

I'm another vote for the butterflies. They have a presence about them that the floral doesn't have.

I picked up a lovely piece of yardage with butterflies at the thrift store yesterday. Your ideas are giving me ideas!

Butterflies here, too. I looked at it from a distance and squinted a little and that group just popped better.

I vote for butterflies as well. The pattern shows a similar fabric for the uprights, thus my vote

Thank you ladies for your help!

The pink and green was the first choice originally. But then I found the butterflies and really wanted them to work. I'm happy the fabric cutting was delayed so I use them now! Thanks for the reminder to do the "squint test". It really works.

    Thanks again!

I liked the butterflies immediately. They pick up some of the colors from the square and are of a similar color value.
