if you shop online, pay attention to the shipping charges!
some shops ship free after a purchase of X amount of $

    happy shopping!

    Try Quilt Fabric Closeouts http://www.quiltfabriccloseouts.com/

I haven't tried them but know of others who have and are pleased.

Some of my best fabrics were found at thrift shops. Do not let those who discourage you from buying anywhere but the quilt shops influence you that much.

You can also check Fabric.com. They have sale fabrics.

A friend frequents the estate sale auctions and has found many good purchases. I think she just checks the newspaper ads for estate sales.

Just be careful about getting inexpensive fabrics. You get what you pay for. I found that out the hard way with the "mystery pack" I bought with the ugliest fabric in it I have ever seen. But it's gonna make a beautiful strip quilt when I'm done with it!
