Hello! I've just signed up for this message board. I'm from Vermont where we are having unseasonably warm weather at the moment . . . I'm sure it will change soon! Went to my first quilt show about 4 years ago and got 'hooked' on quilting. I particularly like applique and have taken several classes. I've completed several small wall hangings as well as Hawaiian quilted pillows. Anyone else on this board from Vermont?

I would be your neighbor in Warren co. I can get to Vermont in about an hour or less. I have been quilting for almost a year now. I want to make a sunbonnet sue of some variety,
The weather here is the same; no snow, very warm ,and I think my grass is starting to green up. It rained and was 60 . Strange
A very big welcome to you

Kathy (from Texas) and Ruth, Thank you for the kind words of welcome. I'm looking forward exchanging ideas, and learning from others who are part of this message board.

By the way, my real name is Marion . . . VermontReader is just what I use for display.

    Hi everyone! I'm Terri.
    I'm new to the board.
Found it, hmmm.......I don't know how, guess I just stumbled across it.
I'm here in Hawaii, but don't be jealous, it's not all it's cracked up to be. Would rather be where I have my 4 seasons again.

    Hi Terri,

Welcome . . . from another quilter who is 'new' to this message board.

My husband and I have been vacationing in Hawaii for the past 12 years! Usually we go to Maui where we stay at the Napili Kai Beach Resort. This year, however, we are doing it a bit differently . . . we are flying to Los Angeles and taking a 15 day cruise! It will be interesting to find out if we like cruising better than just staying in one place.

I grew up in Pennsylvania and later moved to Vermont . . . I know just what you mean about the four seasons . . . doubt if I could give them up.

A very kind lady who was the manager of a quilt shop in Kapalua showed me how to do Hawaiian quilting and I've been 'hooked' ever since.

Guess I've been a bit 'gabby' . . . look forward to hearing from you in the future.

    Marion

We used to vacation in Vt and PA when I was younger.
    Grew up in RI
I had a Hawaiian lady tell me that if I can hand applique, then I can do Hawaiian Quilts. As much as I LOVE them, I don't have the patience it takes to make them. I did once, help a couple ladies here sew on a quilt they were making. It was a pineapple quilt and very pretty. There were 3 of them and they said they had been working on it for over 6 months. No thank you...that's just way too long for me!

I recently purchased two hawaiian quilt patterns, although I must admit to being a bit nervous to begin. One is a queen size while the other is a wall hanging. The queen size Ulu will be put on hold for a minute or two while I practice on the wall hanging.
