I have the Joann's app too. Get on their mailing list if you aren't already...I have gone in with paper coupons from the flyer, plus printed coupons from email, PLUS coupons from the app and they let me use them all on the same purchase.
There aren't any Hobby Lobbys in my area, but there are Beverly's fabrics here, and they will take Joann's coupons but only honor them up to 30% off. (So you can use a 50% off coupon, but they'll only give a 30% discount for it.) They don't even have signs that say this; another local quilter on this forum clued me in!

Joann's have been doing that for awhile now...taking any competitors coupns..plus theirs and you can use them all together. Joann's will take all competitors, those printed online nad those from their mailer...all in the same visit.
Today I did that...(well, did it earlier this week to but got some more on line last night!) 50% off regular items (sometimes hard to find!) I had 8 of them. And then another coupon for 15% off ENTIRE purchase including sale items! So I got 1/2 yard of 11 diff fabs for $2.12 each. Kind of like the price of a FQ...$1.99 for 1/4 sq yd.. I got 1/2 yd for $2.
Join their mailing list and get them online and join the mailing list in the store and get them in the mail. I could afford to quilt if I didn't get the ocupons! I used one today for 50% off on $5 batting...plus 15% off that!

I signed up at both places to have text from Joann's and emails from Hancock's so that I always have them. I get more coupons from Hancocks due to this than when they were coming in the mail. Plus with Hancock's I like having them on me because for the first 3 Wed it's either Senior Citizen or Military discount and those go on top of your sales or coupon. Having them coming to my phone each week sure has saved me money.

It seems like the stores are really different depending on where you go. Some have coupons, some don't. Some honor fabric coupons for bolt batting, some don't. Discounts given for end-of-bolt fabrics are different.
One store I go to insists on separate purchase ring-ups if you're buying two items with two 50% fabric coupons (one from the in-store flyer and one from the mailer), or if you're getting two items with two 40% off coupons from Hobby Lobby.
I suppose the manager has a lot to do it, and also how much competition is in the area. I'm also starting to believe that the individual employees have a hand in this. I wish I had a smartphone.

I always check my phone for coupons online. It can save you money, especially when the item is full price! If you have the Joann's app on your phone, it is easy to get the coupon! If they can't scan it, they will just key it in. It has saved me money at times.
