I HAD to go to my LQS to get my scissors sharpened, and could NOT leave the store without buying something. They had the perfect backing fabric in the $5 bin. So I added 7 1/4 yards (all that was left on the bolt) to my "collection."

I did compromise though and will cook dinner for hubby.

Well, I am there. The first of the year my Social Security Check actually DECREASED by $4.00. Now that I can't stand. I'm 68 years old and I'm sewing from my stash which only started 5 years ago for quilts. Sewing from stash can be fun, but putting it back in the closet is hopeless, even if you got it all out of there. Silvia

We were watching the Travel Channel this afternoon. and there was a woman that travels to different areas digging for gems = Oregon, Carolina,. Arkansas (we went there last week - NOTHING) but she was finding stones $$$$$$ DH said we could sell everything, buy a RV and hit ALL the places - which would---pay for our having fun-- I asked which room in the RV could I use for a sewing room. He said I would have to give up sewing..........we will be staying HERE.....

I have seen RV's towing small travel trailers. My husband and I joked that is where the pesty teens ride.lol

But that could be your sewing room. Discuss that one with your hubby......... :mrgreen:

I can think of much worse things than a fabric addiction. One of my guilds had a flea market instead of their usual meeting this past thursday. That worked out great for me as I had to go to a funeral. I was able to stop at the sale on my way. I dump all of the change out of my wallet everyday and save it. I don't usually carry a purse so it gets heavy in the wallet in my pocket in a big hurry. I decided to take the change to the counting machine on my way to the sale. After the counting fee I still had $71.31. That gave me lots to spend at the sale. I got two finished small quilt tops along with their backings and even the binding already prepared. There are some great quilters in my guild. I couldn't believe my luck. I have already sandwhiched and starting to quilt both tops. I promised one of my quilds a small quilt for thier annual Bingo fundraiser. At the rate I am going I will have it done in a week or so.
On friday a LQS was having a special sale. It has a new owner and she was cleaning out the stock that didn't suit her taste and the new direction she wants to take the shop. Of course I picked up a few bargins there.
Since I will have made at least 20 Linus quilts also this month I feel OK about purchasing more goodies. As long as I don't clutter up the common living space in my home I don't consider myself a hoarder.

My "stash" is a life saver, fixed income came early last year = unemployed. I truly would have gone nuts if I didn't have my stash to keep me busy:)

I feel the same way. It's like my retirement fund. Waiting to be used when I retire. I can find a reason for everything. :-) :-)
