I save it to use"later." Later came when my son returned a quilt to me for rebinding. Looked in the stash and found enough of the original binding to rebind the quilt. Never realized that I made that much too much binding.

Another quilt is ready for binding. There were enough 2 1/2" strips in the drawer to make the binding.

Isn't that a great feeling? Up there with having 6" of thread left in your bobbin when you finished sewing it on!

Great tip. I cut my bindings into 2.5 inch size, and all my scraps get cut into 2.5 inch strips too, so my left over binding gets ironed and added to my scraps. Infact I was cutting jelly roll rugs strips last night, which are 2.5 inches and used two pieces of left over binding up.

Since I always make bias binding, I save my scraps for binding my scrap quilts.

I just finished a scrappy quilt and used up some of my leftover bindings on it.

I make my binding 2.25 so its still useable after I press it flat as a scrap.

I save leftover binding and sew them together and make a scrappy binding. Waste not want not!
