Thanks for the tip. It sounds like a great way to smooth everything out!

Love this idea. Now, I just have to finish the top I am currently working on so I can try it. Hope I don't forget!

I use a long ruler to smooth often. Glad this works for you1

I used a long ruler before but it wasn't that great because I couldn't put steady pressure on it. I had a quilt ready to be basted so got my Slidelock, and started smoothing. I had one border that wouldn't lay flat. The smoothing with pressure had the border flat in no time. I glued it in place and have a flat wrinkle free quilt sandwich.

I have both sizes of the slide lock ruler and love them for the safety factor. This just adds the cherry on top!
    Thanks for sharing the tip.

Every member in my guild has a Slidelock, in fact if anyone cuts at quild with a rotary cutter a safety tool has to be used, either the Slidelock, glove, or suction holder. My guild almost got sued by a new member that got a nasty cut from a rotary cutter at a sew day. After all said and done the insurance on the building were we meet settled. Not a good situation all around. The building rent rates went up and our dues went up $5 a year. Don't think it can't happen to your guild or even in your home if someone get hurt while in your sewing room.

Such a great idea you came up with. I have had my eye on the Slidelock for a long time, mainly because of the safety, like onebyone stated. It just isn't in my budget but maybe I can put it on my Christmas list when my DD asks me what I would like. She isn't a quilter so she'll probably say " A What? lol

My guild bought in bulk and got a better price for all the members.
