I am so lucky. I can shop in a little in-the-home Amish quilt/fabric shop. The prices are lower than Walmart's were when they carried fabric in this area. There is also a wonderful fabric/knitting/yarn/embroidery shop in a converted barn near Oakland, MD, with fabric by the pound, by the piece, off the bolt at super bargain prices. It also carries a selection of the newest cottons at a reasonable cost. Buy fabric at WallyWorld? Never. When I worked in a sewing factory the owner enlightened me about clothing costs: the fabric was the greater expense when compared to labor. At that time, mills might produce the same print on different grades of fabric. Perhaps it is imagination but I prefer purchasing yardage where the lowest wholesale prices are not demanded by the company.
