I'm thrilled that I could even find one and one that I could afford! It came with a new case, as the man said that the old one was in very bad shape and he threw it away. I'd have taken the case anyway, but it is what it is. I'll get a rolling case for it anyway. As far as I'm concerned, it's the machine and not the case it comes in that is important to me anyway.
The only thing I can hear when it is running is the sound that the bobbin case makes. That's normal, isn't it?

I just got mine May 27, it is a centenial , issued June 1, 1951. I dropped it off today to get a plug put on it, since it was lacking one. I think i got a good price even with a little wear on the front and no plug.
Woo Hooed all the way home and still some.

Questions upon questions, and you'd think that I could just be satisfied with what I know now. But I would like to know when it was made.
Any ideas of what I should name it? Do others name their featherweight machines? I've never named any of my other sewing machines. but this one is just so special.
Thanks for all of you being happy for me.

Yes, Lila, as I've named my sweet little machine, was made between July 11,1939 and Dec. 6,1939.
Congratulations to the others who have joined since I have. I know how thrilled I am to have one! Wow to have one your mother had is special!!!
My friend told me where she got her rolling case for her FW, and I got one there last Monday too. Ione's case is all black, and mine is black with a B&W floral front pocket and hot? (it's bright, but would look bright next to the black) pink piping and lining. I got the rolling tote at Michaels in the yarn area. It has the open pocket on the front and 2 side pockets on the outside. Behind the open pocket is a zippered one that opens all the way and has 2 small clear vinyl zippered pouches velcroed on. It also has the elastic holders and other little flat pockets on the other side of the opening zippered pocket. I put scissors in the elastic holders. It also has another zippered pocket behind the one that opens all the way. Inside it has a zippered pocket on the front of the inside and also on the sides. It's hang tag says everything Mary and has a picture of the yarn in a tote on the tag. It measures 15"Lx8"W x13"H and is just the right size for the featherweight to fit in with the foot petal at the side of the machine. I know this is long, but maybe it will help someone looking for a rolling tote for their machine.
