I am thrilled to tell everyone that I just joined the featherweight club today. I got a 1938, 221, and am so happy I could SCREAM!!! (and that coming out of a 65 yr old to boot!) Now I want to find out where it was made. Can I find out that with the serial number? Any good suggestions about my new toy? I'd love to add photos, but can't, sorry.
    Thanks, Janis

Singer has a section on the FW's and where they were made. Also, just put the serial number, including the letters on the QB site and I'll be you will get several people to respond right away with the information. Libber

I just found a Singer place on the net that says that my machine was 'date allotted' and 'year allotted' as July 11, 1939. Now, just what does that mean? Does it mean that that was the first or last day of when it could be made? Is there any way of finding out which date it was made? Questions upon questions, and you'd think that I could just be satisfied with what I know now. But I would like to know when it was made.
Any ideas of what I should name it? Do others name their featherweight machines? I've never named any of my other sewing machines. but this one is just so special.
Thanks for all of you being happy for me.

Congratulations on joining the club!!! I believe the date is the first date machines in that batch were made. You won't ever be able to tell the exact date any machine was made. But you have an early one, so do I and I just love mine!
