If you go up to the search feature at the top of this page and type in "Warm wishes" you will see lots of examples made by people here on the board. The one in the free pattern is ok but photos on this board will show you even better color choices IMHO.
Just what I was going to suggest. Here's the pattern in larger sizes:

I would recommend a rail fence. You can google rail fence quilt...no, wait I will. I'll attach a link here. I was starting to say you could get the pattern free by googling, but just decided to do that. These aren't the only free ones out there, just two I picked. I'll also attach a picture of one I made, because if you are a real beginner like I was, the names of patterns were Greek to me.

At any rate, I hope you enjoy your new hobby. Warning! It is addictive.

Another vote for Warm Wishes. I recently helped a friend make her first quilt using that pattern. I know she has made at least one more. One of the nicest things is that you only to choose a feature fabric and three coordinates - not a dozen that go together.

Can't imagine ever doing something so beautiful. I would post my only quilt pic but I would pale in comparison. I also I can't even figure out how to post a profile pic. Haha

I agree, Warm Wishes is a very simple quilt and goes together quickly. It a pattern I use often for charity quilts. Lots of examples on this website.

I've sent you a private message to offer my rail fence pattern and graphics which I've shared here on the board before. It's in a Word document format which does not open for some members on the board so I'll not include it here, but you are welcome to it thru regular email.

souffoue, there are so many patterns, just jump in with fabrics and colors that speak to you. The important thing is to have fun while you are learning.

I just signed up last night for. connecting thread and keepsake quilting catalogs! I'm super excited and very much appreciate the warm welcome, all the helpful ideas, website links, etc. I could easily become addicted to quilting and that is OK by me! I just need to figure out the pattern (it's driving me crazy!) for my current project and get it started.
Have a great weekend everyone! Thanks again!!
