Maybe put fleece on the back so it's reversible to a different texture? If you use fleece, you don't have to use batting. It's both the backing and batting.

Did you use scarps or have x number of yards of material. thanks
the fall colored one was all scraps. cut 4.5 inches.

the 30's one was taken from scraps of 30's fabrics..leftovers from other projects, some fat quarters. with white blocks in between each D9P.

    i want to say 6 blocks across and down. 78 x 78 ?
    13" blocks (finished)

Look here for a little more info on fabric squares used:

If so, then she'll surely want some velvet or corduroy for some soft texture. Fleece or flannel on the back of it would be ever so soft too.

Our cats love to lay on things that really contrast with their fur...it makes their beauty show more too.

Want to go all out for Sassy? Put some ribbons loops on the edges like for a baby... She'll probably play with them too.

You could also do some embroidery of fish, mice, birds etc to go with the whole kitty good life.

Enjoy and make your Mom smile with Sassy's quilt.
This sounds so cute- and the cat would love it! No white, though. I vote no on the white.

Thanks for all the good ideas! I have fabric lying all over my sewing room, all auditioning for a place in my cat quilt. Once I make one for Mom's cat Sassy, I will probably have to make some for my two cats, for my friend's cats, etc. I may have started a monster.

But, maybe this will help me visualize quilts? At the least, I will be trying new patterns, as I have not made a D9P yet...though I have wanted to. (I have only been quilting two years...which is why I appreciate all the good ideas!! and pictures.)

I think shades of blue would be perfect, from very light to dark.

You're right, you can't go wrong with this block. Love both of your quilts.
