I like the Niagara too. Strangely, it works fantastically well on quilter's cotton, but it flakes on poly-cotton shirts and even the cotton shorts I ironed today.
But I still love it. $2.50 for 20 oz, NOT on sale and it works fine!

Every time I go to the States, I look for starch. I even make my poor daughter drag it home for me. The last time I was down I cleaned them out (42 bottles of Niagara non aerosol starch) which I shared with all of my quilt buddies at Stitch and Share. I also bought a new iron and two enormous jugs of laundry detergent. The border guard commented that I must be washing and ironing shirts for the army but I didn`t enlighten him!

I don't get the starch flakes/residue but I used to. Remember those scrubby things that people made out of plastic milk jug handles and netting? My former mother in law made one for me and that thing was perfect for getting the starch residue off of fabric.
Ok, I had to search for a picture and instead I found a clip from the Carol Duvall show making one! I forgot about that show! http://www.hgtv.com/video/nylon-scru...deo/index.html

I too use Niagra Spray Starch in the non aerosol bottle. I keep a empty bottle on hand and cut it 50/50 with water. I do this as it cuts down on flakes and I do not care for the "stiff as a board" feeling that the straight starch gives me.
I know I know ...if you spray the starch and let it sit ans completely soak in - you don't get flakes but patience has never been a virtue of mine - lol!! So the 50/50 works great for me.
