Not Allowed!
#23
Since I sew in my kitchen - I can't restrict food/drink...but try to be cautious about it. I keep my water/soft drink glass on the counter instead of on the table where I'm sewing. I find that i don't nibble/snack when on a sewing spree - so that's actually a Good thing. If I take a lunch break, I'm cautious about what food is near by work area.
Otherwise the only thing I absolutely won't allow around me is bad, sour attitudes! hahaha! =)
Blessings,
Donna Mc

Nothing is banned from my sewing room, I eat (carefully and responsibly), I drink coffee while sewing, and it sits on my mug rug that sits right beside my sewing machine, and I really need the coffee when I experience insomnia and am in my sewing studio by 3AM (it's a menopause thing ) and if I am sewing in the afternoon my water is in a mason jar with a lid and straw sitting on my mug rug. My cat practically lives in my studio, she actually gets to spend more time in there than I can, I have to admit I get jealous at times, LOL. She is my studio companion and often I find her napping on the area rug in the room even when I'm not in there, and I feed her in there too. I no longer have a dog, so that is not an issue, she was old and we had to put her down a few years ago. All the grands have napped in the porta-crib in there while I was babysitting at one point or another too. And DH will come and visit and gab, but doesn't stay long only because the extra chair is a kitchen chair, not a recliner, LOL. And the quilt police have never showed up, and if they ever did, I guess that would be the first "not allowed".

no smoking (entire house); no pets in sewing or LA spaces; I do always have something to drink, but always in a lidded mug, no snacks that would leave stains (non greasy stuff or chocolate); no negativity! I also keep track of sunlight that might fade fabrics.

My sewing studio is seperately from my house. The only rule I have is: No complaining children. They know if the house is not on fire and no one has stop breathing or is bleeding, not to tell me. No " Mom, David is doing.......". They are welcome to come in and join me at their machine or just to chat. We have had some interesting conversations in that studio over the years and sewn some incredible items together. All four of my sons are well versed in sewing and hardly ask me to repair something as they can handle it themselves. They are grown now but the same rules apply to my grandchildren.

Can't think of anything not allowed in my sewing room. All drinks must be in a caped container and placed on a trivet so I don't get water stains. Pets (cat and a Yorky) do wander in to tell me it's time to play or eat (again)...but they never bother anything at all. They seemed to know and respect that this is my space. Chocolate is always welcomed along with a roll of paper towels.
