    Default Notions for shopping trips

I have recently become interested in vintage machines (thanks to all the posts on this board.) Yes, I have been bitten by the bug. So now when I go out searching for vintage machines I will always take some supplies with me. Often it is necessary to add a missing part to see if the machine works. Here are the things in my bag: needles, scissors, scrap fabric, screw drivers, extension cords, thread, variety of bobbins already wound, bobbin casings if I have them, thread stand in case stem on machine is broken or missing, variety of foot peddles, variety of pressure feet and extensions (slant, etc.), lint brush, rags to wipe off any dust or grease, manuals for a variety of vintage machines. This so far has been very helpful in deciding whether to purchase or not.

Wow, that certainly would help out. I have just taken screwdriver, thread and fabric. I look mostly at treadles. But you have all the bases covered I think for any missing parts to help determine how the machine is functioning or not.
