Hopefully you used prewashed, without any softener or such, material and a pigma pen or something like it.
To set, you just iron/press the piece. Then you are ready to sew.
There are several designs for signature quilts out on the net.

use a (pressing sheet) a piece of muslin- or even a white paper towel will work- to protect your iron- and keep ink from bleeding-
do not use steam
press with a hot iron- lifting and placing---do not move the iron around on the ink.
