The owners manual should tell you.

Not a clue as to what it is, but, I'm glad it works for what you need it to do. I use a lot of unconventional things to accomplish what I need to do. Necessity is, after all, the mother of invention!

I agree with others that say it is an overcast foot. It keeps the fabric flat when you overcast seams. You don't need to serge if you have one of these.

    Janome overcast foot - 822808008

Use with the overlock stitch to give a professional finish to the edges of your seams. Particularly good for finishing off medium to heavyweight ...

Giggling here. Now I know what mine is for......overcasting.....cool.

Learn something new every day. And I've been quilting forever. I usually avoid the things I don't know the use for. Now i can ask on a board. Sew many quilters have answers.

I did this with my 401A and have since rec'd extra feet from members and cams for her too. Quilters are awesome friends. Thanks for sharing everyone.

I've never seen anything like it. But I've never used a Janome either.

I think you're right. Mine is called an overcasting foot. I have a Janome MC4000. It is foot M.

Glad it works just right...I am pretty sure that it is an overcast foot, but us it for whatever you need to use it for.
